Browser speed test commercial

I've been using Google's browser, called Chrome, exclusively for about six months or so. For the previous 5 years I used Firefox. I love Chrome. If you haven't tried it, do it. It's great.

It's a shame... REALLY.

All I want in a social network is to have a place to share events, ideas and information with my "real" friends. Also, to not have to worry about what the company who runs the network does with my information. I'm OK with a company using my info to target ads with information such as age, gender, marital status, hobbies. But, if they grab my friends info, or info from my status updates; I have a real problem with that. My info is obviously valuable, so why don't I have the right to have it used in a matter that I find valuable.

The real problems with social networks are the dumb people who post divisive thoughts. Or, the people who post about their "mafia's" and "farms". Do we REALLY care about peoples thoughts on the power of Christ, and/or prayer? Save it for church. Do we REALLY care about peoples thoughts about how awesome Sarah Pailin is. Aside from being a "MILF" what else is compelling about her? Here's a hint, not everybody agrees with your political beliefs. I REALLY don't care about your shitty virtual Mafia and how many gangsta's you mowed down. I REALLY don't care about how many virtual acres you cultivated for you prize pig. Now, if you want to share your thoughts about your real life mafia, then I'm down.

There are hundreds of sites where I could do any of the things that I listed above. The problem is that not enough people that I know really want to go to those sites and I don't want to put up with the garbage on the sites that they are on. Despite my own thoughts about myself, I don't think that many people really give a crap about what I'm doing or what my thoughts are. It's a shame. It's a shame that we don't care more about each others real lives. It's a shame that we don't feel like we can tell others that they are valuable. Why is is so hard to make real connections with the people that we want to share with?

Unfortunately this tool doesn't address some fundamental issues I have with facebook. For instance the idea that facebook is trying to become the internet. AOL died for a reason folks. I like to have options and have openness to do what I want without being tethered to an amoral corporation. Anyway, moral of the story... Don't drink the Kool-aid and don't be sheep.

Well that was a pain in the ass

So, I decided to cut out early on facebook. The process of deleting your account is a pain in the ass. Facebook doesn't provide an easy solution. I happened to come accross an article that details the process.

Even after all of that, my account is still not deleted. Facebook is giving me 14 days to change my mind. Amazing.

A letter to my facebook friends.

After almost 3 years; I'm leaving facebook. I will delete my account on Friday, May 14th. Why? To put it simply, the juice is no longer worth the squeeze.

It's been a hard decision. I'm leaving behind some comedy gold from old posts. I'm leaving behind past conversations and experiences I've shared with my friends and family. I'm leaving behind renewed connections to people who I once knew. I'm leaving behind an important tool for expressing myself. These things that I value are being eclipsed by the constant changes that have been going on at facebook.

I value certain aspects of my privacy and I want to control what and who I share that information with. As time has gone by on facebook I control less and less of that. In turn they make more and more money from that information. I'm tired of being pounded by all of the requests for the latest crap farm game. I'm tired of knowing that every time one of my friends adds an application, my info is being given to the application publisher. I'm tired of reading about the boring, mundane, "my life is the best" posts by people who I really don't give a shit about. I'm especially tired of censoring myself for fear of offending certain people (even though they aren't afraid to voice their opinions). And really, at the end of the day, most of you guys really don't give a flying finger fuck about me or what I have to say.

Lost Generation: work is more important than family

Omni-directional treadmill allows individuals to sashay through virtual cities

Though not the first omni-directional treadmill we've ever seen, this version crafted for the EU-funded CyberWalk Project is entirely more interesting. The 6- x 6-meter device features an active walking area of 4.5- x 4.5-meters, and later this month, individuals anxious to prance through a virtual city will be able to strap on a head-mounted display, lace up their LA Lights and indulge in escapism. Aside from giving curious persons the ability to walk through a recreated version of ancient Pompeii, the device could also be used to meander through buildings not yet created or give firefighters a way to train without placing them in harm's way. Now, if only there was an option to dissolve into pixels and teleport to locales you find particularly intriguing, we'd be sold.

Xbox 360 Version Of Wii Remote In Development Since Summer | MTV News

MTV News has an apparent insider who claims that Microsoft is developing a motion controller for the Xbox 360. I thought that this mole, if you will, sounded pretty legit until he claimed that they are also copying the idea of personal avatars similar to the mii's on the Nintendo Wii. I don't think MS would blatantly copy something cheesy like these mii's. We'll have to wait and see. Click the link below for the full article.

Pachter: EA could delay GTA IV's April 29 release - Joystiq

Mr. Michael Pachter – everyone's favorite clairvoyant video game analyst – has a knack for making headlines. Whether it's "Pachter snubs pal Lohan in Viper Club debacle" or "EA could delay GTA IV's April 29 release" we tend to take notice. On the latest episode of Bonus Round, Pachter told host Geoff Keighley, "I think if EA takes over Take-Two, they have an economic incentive to delay [Grand Theft Auto IV]." What economic incentive might that be? Why, to hold the release until the far more lucrative fourth quarter. As for why Take-Two isn't simply doing that itself, the Pach explains, "Take-Two, financially, has to get that game out ... they need the money. They need to get it out."
That's all well and good but, you see, it's just that we've had April 29th circled on our Strauss Zelnick pinup calendar (in permanent marker no less) for over two months and, since Peter Moore really dropped the ball, we also went ahead and got that date tattooed on our far less impressive biceps. So, to recap, if EA manages to merge their giant family with Take-Two's impressive roster, your plans for May are shot and we're going to have a funny tattoo story to tell the grandkids.
